Job Title: Build Aviator Designer

Job Role

The overall purpose of the role is to prepare and produce detailed plan drawings and estimates, translating information into Revit and our bespoke estimating program to produce a fully detailed & costed material plant and labour estimate for our customers, as well as plans to a planning submission standard.

The Plan Drawer is to work alongside both our client’s and internal support teams to ensure the detailed drawings & estimates are accurate and profitable for clients.

Technical Responsibility

Specialise in design, underpinned by building science, engineering and technology and applied to architecture within projects, playing a pivotal role in project and design management for customers.

Responsible for writing building design specification design and manage all project types for domestic extensions, loft conversions and new build dwellings.

Work collaboratively with other professionals such as architects and engineers and are recognised on a par with Chartered professionals in the built environment sector. Internal collaboration to hand over large projects and support Development Managers to ensure the smooth transition from design to quotation and construction.

Outline of Role and Responsibilities

  • To be able to create Plan Drawings, estimates and pricing proposals in pricing program for; Extension, Renovation, Loft Conversion, New Build (Standard) Barn Conversion. – Training provided for in house estimating program.
  • To liaise with customers, service team and external suppliers with a high level of networking and communication skills.  
  • Other duties may be required of you that are not specific to your role.

  • Good organisational skills; able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines and targets where appropriate.
  • Promote a responsible and professional image at all times.
  • Ability to work without instruction, using good judgement to escalate / delegate where required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and unaccompanied.

Preferred experience and knowledge

  • Experience in REVIT
  • Certified Revit User or Professional
  • Construction technical experience within previous job roles
  • Good knowledge of Building Regulations
  • Experience of reading / understanding architectural drawing / structural specifications
  • Experience of Microsoft Office package (Outlook / Access / Word / Excel predominantly
  • Excellent communicator both internally and externally, written and verbal
  • Able to work under own initiative
  • Organised and able to manage own workload
  • Preferred not essential A*-C grade in English and Maths at GCSE level or similar
