The steps to become a Green Homes Grant Scheme installer with Build Aviator
To become a Green Homes Grant Scheme installer there are usually three steps:
- Set up a Quality Management System (QMS) if you don’t already have one
- Get your QMS and examples of work you’re doing
- Apply to be TrustMark registered
But through our unique partnership with Trade Engine and TrustMark, you can skip making a separate application for TrustMark approval – it will happen automatically once you’re PAS2030 certified.
The entire process usually takes around 6-8 weeks, but remember by applying through us, you don’t need to wait around to become accredited before you can take advantage of the influx in Green Homes Grant work.
If you already have PAS 2030, you can jump straight to becoming TrustMark approved.
The steps to accreditation
1: Set up your QMS (Quality Management System)
You’ll need a QMS for the Green Homes Grant that’s compliant with PAS 2030:2019 requirements. But don’t worry, our partners Trade Engine can update your existing QMS or provide you with one to if you don’t have one in place.
The cost for this is £695 plus VAT and within that price you’ll get access to support too so you can ask any questions you have about the set-up process.
Your QMS will be set up around the sort of measures you want to install, eg Solid Wall, Solar Thermal or Loft and you can apply for up to 6 measures in the price. You can choose to do your MCS accreditation for renewables at this stage too.
2: Get your QMS and examples of work you’re doing audited
Your QMS will need to be audited independently and the certifying body will also complete a number of site audits for each type of measure you intend to install.
If they’re satisfied with what they see, your organisation will become certified to the 2019 version of the PAS 2030 standard.
At the same time, we’ll pass on your approval to TrustMark to get you signed up to their accredited installer scheme, removing a further application form and process.
You will need to appoint a certification body, but you’ll find a list of organisations below. An audit costs around £900 plus VAT depending on the amount of measures you are applying for and which body you choose. This price usually includes TrustMark registration that would be £60 separately.

Once approved, you can then undertake work instructed by our Retrofit Coordinator, which (through following the PAS 2035 process) will comply with the PAS 2035 standard.
The audit process can take up to 6 – 8 weeks subject to how many measures you have selected and which measures. To help with the process, make sure you work with Trade Engine to create or review your QMS as they have extensive experience in setting up compliant systems.
