Get to know our ex-trade experts!

Build Aviator’s diverse and dynamic team is made up of a variety of ex-trade experts. They work with you to ensure that your project is costed correctly. Here is a little behind the scenes information on their experience and how they got to where they are today.

Andrew

Andrew is our head estimator here at Build Aviator, he ensures all incoming estimates are organised and assigned to the best-suited estimator. He has been with the company from the very beginning. Before joining the Build Aviator team, he was in the construction industry for 25 years and has previous experience working as a bricklayer, site and project manager.

Andrew’s top estimating tips are to make sure your estimate is clear and ticks all your client’s requirements, otherwise it will not be a true cost. Always be honest with the customer, they don’t mind a builder making a profit as long as you are open and don’t try and lift their leg.

Dave

Initially studying and working as an apprentice in the Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel. Dave was able to learn on the job and obtain a variety of qualifications. With previous experience working as a workshop foreman, workshop manager, assistant site manager, site manager and running his own company, you can say Dave is somewhat an expert in the trade! Then, in April 2018 whilst looking through the jobs on Indeed he came across an estimator position with Build Aviator, and the rest is history!

Dave’s top estimating tip is to make plenty of notes before you start!

Ian

Based in Suffolk, our Jewson branch estimator Ian has been at Build Aviator for 2 and a half years. Ian was previously a bricklayer by trade but also worked as a contractor and over his career completed a variety of projects including renovations, new builds and extensions. Ian was in the construction industry for 33 years before joining the Build Aviator estimator team.

His top estimating tip is better to be slow and right, rather than quick and wrong. Deadlines are just a number!

Andy D

Our in house estimator Andy is based at Build Aviator’s head office in Suffolk. As soon as he left school, he started working in the construction industry where he qualified as a bricklayer, plasterer and site manager, whilst working he secured himself a Chartered Institute of Building Qualification. He’s been part of our estimator team for 3 years.

Andy’s top estimating tip is don’t panic!
